Christianity vs Atheism
I ran across a website recently that was primarily promoting
atheism and evolution almost like it was religion. The author
seemed to be seeking converts to atheism.
I
just have a simple question. Why? What is there to gain if you
don't believe in God? You take this website I run. If I run
this site because I have faith in God and believe that people who
believe in the Lord Jesus are better off for instance. They have
eternal life, and lead happier lives with more love toward their
family and neighbor etc. This becomes my motivation to share the
Gospel. So what's
the motivation for convincing anyone there is no God? How would
not believing in God make anyone better? For example if there is
no God why care about anything. It seems to me if there is no God
the only thing that matters in life is me and not getting caught.
Of course if there is no God why is there anything to be caught
at? Most of the laws of our nation for instance come from the
basic commandments of the Bible. Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt
not steal, and so on. So if there were no Word of God the Bible
what makes a atheists think our laws would resemble anything close
to what we have today. Why
do we care if there is no God? Why do anything? If there is no
ultimate good, no greater purpose for our lives than what we can conceive,
then why bother? Why should I care about my fellow human if
he's just another wild cosmic accident like me? If he has no
ultimate purpose. Then he's has no more worth than I, and my only
worth would ultimately be just to please myself as much as possible
before my life is over. I
myself would much rather believe in a God I can't explain. Who
knows more than me and watches out for me. Belief in God means
there is no random accident. Yes, there are bad things that happen
that can't be explained other than the failings of man, but I also
know when the good things happen that they happened because
someone greater than I am caused them to happen. God purposed them
to come into my life. I can't accept a world with no order or
rhyme or reason. To me that's the closest thing to insanity that
there can be. I
challenge you to read the Bible for yourself. Don't take my word
for it. Read it through.
If your wondering why I bother to even write this. It's because I
personally do believe in God and his Son Jesus Christ. And
because of this verse. John
3:16
For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
